What Is Pinhooking?
Pinhooking is the art (and business) of buying a young horse and selling them later at a more developed stage. At horseOlogy, that means:
Weanlings ➜ Yearlings
Yearlings ➜ Two-Year-Olds in Training
Each stage requires a different eye, different development strategies, and a deep understanding of the commercial market—all of which our team handles from start to finish.
Stages of InvestOlogy
Weanlings
Purchased between 4–6 months old and sold 8–10 months later as yearlings. This stage offers excellent value and strong upside potential.
Yearlings
Yearlings are typically purchased July–October and sold the following spring or summer as two-year-olds in training.
Yearlings Selected for Racing
Some yearlings are chosen not for resale, but for exclusive racehorse ownership, where they begin their development and training with horseOlogy in Ocala before transitioning to Jena Antonucci Racing for their racing careers.
This dual-path model gives partners the flexibility to participate in early development while choosing between a commercial pinhooking exit or the long-term excitement of owning a future racehorse.
